About
gregsimas.org is a blog (weblog) website aimed at those interested in knowing my thoughts and what I feel is important to me.
You will find:
- Posts with an honest assessment of life as I live it and see it. What I am learning. What I am excelling in. What I fall short in. How I live as a Pastor, a father, husband and friend. Just keeping it real. This will help you in your own life-journey.
- Articles to give you encouragement and motivation towards a deeper life in God and ministry. After 25 years of full-time ministry I have learned much. The articles are aimed to help you with all aspects of your own life in God and ministry and leadership involvement.
- A resource for interesting information. When I come across great information I will pass it onto you. I will connect you to video, audio, quotes, webpage links and articles. You can use them for your own benefit and personal library of information.
Who is Greg Simas?
Family
I am happily married to my wife, Wendi for 24 years and have three amazing children Hannah, Jordan and Lydia. Of course I think my family is the greatest. My family is my highest priority outside of the Lord himself. I made the choice that I would never put my family on the altar of sacrifice for the sake of the ministry. I now look back and believe that this was on of the best decisions I have ever made!
Interests
As far as interests go, I love people, hanging out, ministry, technology, productivity, reading, listening to worship music. I love both Starbucks and Peets (Bay Area chain) coffee. I promote Apple products wherever I go. And I have to admit it, I enjoy video games.
I personally believe that every Christian leader should be blogging. I believe we can impact the world and influence history by sharing our lives through writing. This is a growing conviction.
Calling
God called me to ministry when I was 19 and I graduated from Bethany Bible College with a Ministerial Degree in 1984 I started full time in the same year and have never looked back.
Ministry
- In 1984 my first ministry assignment was Youth Pastor at First Assembly of God (now called Harbor Light) in Fremont CA., , my hometown. We loved it.
- In 1990 we moved up to Eugene, OR. taking on the Youth Ministry assignment at Willamette Christian Center. Eugene houses the University of Oregon which is like a “mini Berkeley”.
- In 1995 God put it on our hearts to start a church back in Fremont CA. We stepped out in faith, not knowing where the resources would come from and moved the family from Eugene back to San Francisco Bay Area and started Harvest House in March of 1996
- We met in schools until the Lord blessed us with five acres of land and some buildings. In 1999 we moved to our new home. In 2005 we sold that property and are in a transition site waiting for land to be donated to us so we can build a new facility.
